Cafe la nuit / Café Van Gogh

The very cafe on the Place Du Forum in Arles, as painted by Vincent Van Gogh in September 1888, almost exactly 122 years ago! Not a lot seems to have changed, but the cafe has expanded further into the street and Arles itself is probably busier... I wasn't really able to replicate his viewpoint, as there is another cafe next door nowadays, where I am standing. Plus it wasn't at night, but I was still pleased to see it.... This was the high point of my holiday - my favourite painting by Van Gogh! He said that the town was 'full of happy people'. More about Van Gogh in Arles here: farewellvangogh.blogsome.com/
