Aix-en-Provence This roundabout with its central fountain seems to be the hub of activity in Aix, from which everything radiates. I'm really surprised I managed to capture this very busy roundabout without a vehicle whizzing past it! The fountains are illuminated at night. This is just one of the many fountains in Aix, which has been named 'the city of a thousand fountains' . Aix was originally a Roman spa which was established because of the many natural springs in the area.
