La tour de l'horloge
Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville is a place of Aix-en-Provence, located in the city center, in front of City Hall, located since the fourteenth century at the foot of the clock tower, the old belfry of the town in which there is an astronomical clock dating back to 1661.
The clock tower (tower or communal), contiguous to the town hall, crosses the street. Built on a base of white limestone dating from Roman times, it was raised in 1510 and decorated with braces and pinnacles blazing. At its top is in a cage metalwork dating from the sixteenth century, the bell of the ban, which used to be called the Board or the defense perimeter of a league.
