Montmajour abbey is a few kilometers away from Arles in Provence (France), on the road to Les Baux-de-Provence. It was created as early as the XIth century as a Benedictine monastery.
At the foot of the tower, a series of tombs were carved in the rock. The monks would make money by burrying people in those shallow graves. Each beeing used repeatedly and the host evicted as soon as the lease ran out.
